Centinela Hospital Medical Center Ranks in the Top Ten as a Member of Prime Healthcare Services
Thomson Reuters, a nationally recognized research organization, recently analyzed 252 health systems across the United States and named Prime Healthcare Services (PHS) as being in the top ten nationally for quality and efficiency of patient care. Centinela Hospital Medical Center, a PHS hospital located in Inglewood, played a vital role in helping to achieve this prestigious ranking.
Researchers from Thomson Reuters calculated these rankings based on a system’s overall hospital based clinical performance. Five areas were used to gauge the clinical quality and efficiency of the health systems. These included, patient mortality, medical complications, patient safety records, average length of hospital stay and hospital adherence to clinical standards of care.
PHS, which owns and operates 13 acute care hospitals in California, was the only for-profit health system to be ranked in the top 10 on the West Coast. “This prestigious recognition speaks volumes of Prime’s commitment to its core values of quality and efficiency of health care delivery, especially in these times of rapidly evolving healthcare reform across the nation.” said Prem Reddy, MD, FACC, FCCP, and PHS Chairman of the Board.
In addition to the Thomson Reuters ranking, Centinela Hospital Medical Center has recently been fully accredited by the Joint Commission. This organization certifies more than 16,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards.
Says Matt Williams, Administrator of Centinela Hospital Medical Center, “All our processes were meticulously analyzed and implemented with a patient as the focus philosophy. We believe that this provides superior clinical outcomes and more cost-effective protocols. We have placed an incredible amount of effort in raising the bar for what qualifies as the standard of care. Our physicians and staff do a fantastic job in meeting these expectations on a daily basis.” He continues, “We are incredibly proud of the achievements of Prime Healthcare Services and in the role that Centinela Hospital Medical Center has played in this well deserved ranking.” |
