Centinela Hospital Honors Long Time Physicians

Inglewood, CA – December 16, 2009 – It was a special night at the December Medical Staff Meeting at Centinela Hospital Medical Center. The hospital honored thirty-four physicians who have been on the medical staff of the hospital for thirty years or more. While most of the physicians joined the hospital’s medical staff in the 1970’s, two physicians began their practice at the hospital in December of 1960. John S. Peterson, M.D. a general practitioner and Masashi Uriu, M.D a general surgeon both joined the medical staff on December 6, 1960.

Says Bobbie De La Rosa, Director of Medical Staff Services at the hospital, “We are immensely proud of all of our over 350 physicians and allied health professionals on staff at the Centinela Hospital. However, we felt that this group of 34 physicians deserved extra recognition this year for their longevity and dedication to the people of Inglewood and surrounding communities.” The complete list of the honorees and their specialties is listed below:

The hospital also recognized outgoing hospital Chief of Staff, Ernest Agatstein, M.D. with a plaque which highlighted his service to the hospital during his tenure in this position. Doris Lyonga, M.D. incoming Chief of Staff accepted the award on Dr. Agatstein’s behalf.
