Volunteer Oporutunities
Centinela Hospital Medical Center has an active volunteer program and our volunteers are a vital component of our healthcare team. The Volunteer Program is open to men, women and teens from Inglewood and surrounding areas. Each volunteer selected is oriented and trained in an area that is appropriate taking into consideration that person's unique talents and interests. While some volunteers come to CHMC looking to have direct interaction with patients, others prefer helping behind the scenes. What's important is that the experience is both rewarding for the volunteer and helpful for patients and staff.
Volunteers perform a variety of tasks including answering telephones and filing, greeting patients and visitors, making photocopies, running errands, offering books and magazines to patients from a library cart, preparing literature for mailing and many other duties.
The requirements for being a volunteer at CHMC include a brief interview, passing a physical, background check, and being committed to work a total of 40 hours. Volunteers are encouraged to work a minimum of 4 hours on any day they are available to work. The volunteer is required to purchase a jacket or smock to wear while on duty.
Volunteering opens doors to new friendships and gives you the rewarding opportunity to help others. So give us a call. You'll feel good, and so will our patients. To request a volunteer application package, please call our Volunteer Services Department at (310) 680-8869.
