One of Only Four California Hospitals to Make the List

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – June 12, 2017 – Centinela Hospital Medical Center today announced that it has been named one of America’s 100 Great Community Hospitals in 2017, according to a study released June 5 by Becker’s Hospital Review.

“We are very pleased to be recognized by Becker’s for providing quality care to our patients,” says Linda Bradley, CEO for Centinela Hospital Medical Center. “As the only Los Angeles-based hospital to make this year’s list, we commend the hard work and dedication our physicians, nurses, staff and volunteers contribute toward delivering exceptional and safe quality care for this community.”

The Becker's Hospital Review editorial team selected hospitals for inclusion based on rankings and awards from organizations such as the National Rural Health Association, iVantage Health Analytics, Truven Health Analytics, Healthgrades, CareChex, the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and The Leapfrog Group.

Becker’s has published a version of this list annually since 2011. For the purposes of this list, Becker’s defines a ‘community hospital’ as one with fewer than 550 beds that have minimal teaching programs. Hospitals included on the Becker’s list are recognized for quality, patient satisfaction and overall excellence and play a key role in their communities as the centerpiece for health care in many occasions. Centinela Hospital’s dedication to the community it serves is evident by its $100 million capital expansion and renovation plans. In May 2016, Centinela completed a $55 million seismic retrofit project that included the unveiling of a new hospital front entrance, lobby, admitting department, laboratory, gift shop, and administration offices. In March 2017, it opened its newly expanded emergency room that includes 10,000 square feet of additional space to increase the number of emergency room beds to 52. Further remodeling and expansion projects under construction include: more emergency department upgrades, maternal services and labor & delivery, radiology, hybrid cath lab, and pharmacy facilities.
